Interesting thought
While I was working the Volleyball tournament over the weekend I was just think how the outfits they wear scream "Look at my ass and legs". Then I was thinking of how my boyfriend loves playing volleyball but he doesn't wear those little shorts/spandex. As a lacrosse player we wear skirts and I believe tennis does too. We want to be just as equal as men in terms of sports and yet look at the outfits we wear..I don't like wearing skirts, but it's not really our choice. I'm not sure who comes up with what women or men have to wear while playings sports but I think it needs to change. Anyone woman playing a sport doesn't look "pretty" in any sense, we look sweaty and gross. I just thought it was interesting to think about.

I do think that is pretty interesting. I have a lot of friends (boys and girls) who played lacrosse in high school and I always found it so strange that girls wear skirts. I always did sports that had basically the same uniform for men and women. In softball, we wore pants just like the guys pants, in track and cross country boys wore short shorts like the girls. I wonder why for certain sports, girls have to wear uniforms that seem more demeaning and "girly".
ReplyDeleteIn dance it is kind of opposite, yeah girls have to wear short tight shorts, similar to volley ball, but that is basically what the guys wear as well. I think it is funny that in this case it is turned around to the guys looking more like the girls.
